The Week - Revisited

I'm feeling good about being back on the blog-train. It has been a while since I've posted with any consistency...but, I think I'm back. If not for any reason other than to journalize my thoughts as I strive for this thing called fitness.
OK...so Saturday was test day for the upcoming Sectionals at CrossFit Smyrna. We had our training meeting and did the OPT test from that day.
3 rounds for time:
15 Dead Lift - 185
15 Ring Dips
20 Box Jumps - 24"

Time: 5:50 (that was about 45 seconds behind the fastest from that day)

My form on the deads went to crap during the second round because I went out way too fast. Tough workout for the main reason that I put everything I had into doing this - competition and testing is a true indicator of where you are at and what you need to work on.

Monday had us doing the terrible CrossFit workout "Eva." I don't remember what my last time was (probably close to 50 minutes) for this but I do know that I did not do it prescribed. This time around: 39:12 RX'd.

Lessons Learned: With the amount of pull-ups and kettle-bell swings done you will most likely tear your hands. I used tape but don't think I used enough chalk. My hands held out until the last round. Is more chalk the solution? I don't know but it is something I will think about for the next time I do this WOD.
Tuesday had me doing "Annie" - which involves a skill that I am terrible at...double-unders. 8:06 Rx'd. Thankfully a friend over at CF Mission Gorge sent me a link for a new company that makes jump ropes specifically for CrossFitters. Rx Jump Ropes - check them out. Oh, and I also did back squats 5x5 at 225lbs.

Wednesday was a day off because I had an early morning for some training I had to do - and to think, I get paid for this!

Thursday: "Kelly," new PR of 26:08 (that's a PR by 59 seconds). Could have gone a little faster but I seem to be nursing a possible groin/upper quad injury....

Today I will be doing Feb 20th WOD of:
Five rounds for time of:
45 pound barbell Overhead walking lunges, 50 feet
21 Burpees

...I'll let you know how it goes. Crash sends.

*update on the Overhead lunges/Burpees
8:36 Rx

- today's OPT Test...not so good. More to follow...
