Race Report

With an added bonus: Don't get bombed the Friday before a race - even if you think Sunday is a long way off.

Friday - I got drunk. And I need to caveat this with I rarely get drunk. Why you ask? Because I don't deal well with hang-overs. I know that may go with out saying ("No shit Crash, who likes hang-overs") but, mine seem to last a ridiculously long time. This one was no exception. Beer, Beer, Tequila shots, and more Beer don't agree with me the next day. And they really don't agree with me when I'm trying to run a half-marathon.

Saturday was to be responsible day. The day when I was supposed to help my wife clean up the house for our company arriving next weekend....Let's just say I'm lucky I'm not in bigger trouble. Sleeping 'till noon and walking around like a zombie sighing all of the time is now way to win over your sweet-heart on responsible day.

Sunday brought us race day - for both us of. This was the Dragon's first Half-Marathon and longest run to date. It was to be sort of a "self punishment" for me. Check that, it was a self punishment for me. Total time: 1:50:23...and in this case I'll take it.

Rest Day

Hehe. Sometimes we've got to learn those lessons. And most times we forget.

Until next time.

We hammered a century earlier this month and I was definitely under the weather. Several beers and 4 hours of sleep the night before make for an interesting few hours in the saddle. I'm just glad I didn't have to run. The constant pounding would've been a whole new cave of pain...

Bwaah... sounds like you were in the doghouse, Crash! :) haha.

1:50 is pretty fast for a half in my book! Esp since you were probably running on tequilla fumes!

I just had a friend provide the following guideline to me - no more than 2 beers the night before a race. He told me it is his steadfast rule!

Self punishment is always good. You remember those races much more so then the "easy" ones!

Congrats to the Dragon too!
